news!
Hi Everyone! Okay, let’s start with what I learned from the survey of KU vs Library so far. Of the people who responded, a whopping 80% said they use the library or some form of library app like Libby while only 20% said they use Kindle Unlimited. This is very helpful for me to know. It helps me make decisions going forward. And, in light of this information, I have chosen to take part in a shared series that will release in 2024… I know. 2024. Publishing. That’s all I can say about that. BUT, this is going to be a lot of fun. The series is all Greek God retellings. I will be writing one of the books and my God is Heracles. Of course, this will be my very loose take on one of his tales. And… it won’t cover the part of his life that is usually covered in the stories that people choose to write… That’s all I’m going to say about the story line for now! The thing about this series is, most of the authors involved are in Kindle Unlimited. Therefore, my book will join them in Kindle Unlimited for the first while. So, for those of you who said KU, keep an eye out for that! Now, onto the what’s been happening lately in my word world. |
Revisions
I have found myself in the unenviable position of drowning in revisions. Take note, this is what happens when your characters look at your plans and scoff, then f*ck off and do whatever the hell they want. WHY?! Okay. Deep breaths. These assholes… Yes. I talk to my characters as if they are standing in front of me and not in my brain because to me, they are REAL. And, I’m getting the urge to stab them. A lot. Someone get me a spike like Cinder’s… Nope. I’ll take that back. But, it’s an interesting idea. Hmmmm. Stab someone in a story. Be right back. Now, where was I? She asks, as she washes the blood off her hands. Oh, yeah. Jerkface characters who think they can do what they want. I am used to revisions, anyone who writes the way I do, has to be. But this one might kill me. There are so many loose threads that I need to address and this story is supposed to be done. So, with this issue in mind, let’s talk about the bonkers process I use and how I might be trying to change it. |
Process
As some of you know who have been here a while, I start a story with an obscene number of notebooks, an idea, and vibes. Yep. That’s it. Then, after I write out the whole book long hand in my notebooks, I make a ton of notes, and type it up making the revisions I think it needs along the way. I do all that before anyone sees the book other than me and my ding dong characters. Every once in a while, this is a problem. And I’m starting to worry about the sheer number of notebooks I have. So, I’m thinking about doing more of the initial writing on the computer first like I have been writing the little story here in the newsletter. My question for you all is, if I did this, would you want to occasionally see an unedited, hot mess, rough draft of a chapter of one of the ongoing books? Or would that ruin the books for you? Especially if they sometimes include some spoilery content? No? Yes? To be honest, just thinking about doing this scares the bejeezus out of me. I keep the door closed until I’m ready to have people read, to even contemplate opening it is a LOT. Let me know what you think. I’ll bring it up again before I decide for sure. And if I do it, I will let you know that there are spoilers ahead. Now, I have some additional news about Heart of Cinders. I have been informed that it will be going on sale for $.99!! This makes me super happy as we prep for book 4 coming out. Also, with book 4 starting at $.99 during the preorder period when it becomes available, once Heart of Cinders drops in price, it’s a good time to get into the series. I think (if it works like it’s supposed to) the sale should start tomorrow. YAY! The fifth book of this series will be coming out in September and the sixth, and last, book will come this year. You all know that The Grimm Star Saga’s first book is also scheduled to come out in June. That book, Song of the Piper, has a cover! It’s a reimagining of The Pied Piper of Hamlin story in the Grimm Star story world and is a fantasy romance with steam like Heart of Cinders. It’s also another book that deals with dark themes as all my books do. However, it still hangs onto some of the sci-fi roots of the world. This books is also in first person because that’s my jam. So, without further rambling, here is the cover for that book just in case I haven’t shared it before. |
Song of the piper

I’m excited about everything happening. Book 4 is coming soon, Song of the Piper coming soon, Crossroad Inn in book form coming soon, and I get to write more books! Give me some good vibes that I can get my process under control in a way that won’t leave me drowning in mountains of notebooks and revisions. Thank you all for answering my questions and hanging in with me through this nutty journey. Now, back to the revision hell for me! As always, happy reading! — Everly |
